"The Institute for Metropolitan Development is responsible for managing higher education in academic, professional, and training tracks, offering curricula and fields of study that align with the needs of the urban community. This is aimed at producing graduates who are experts in specific fields related to metropolitan and urban development, as well as the quality of life of urban citizens. Its duties also encompass conducting research and establishing research networks in collaboration with other agencies to foster a body of knowledge in urban and metropolitan development; organizing systems to collect local wisdom and the experiences of local scholars to establish a metropolitan and urban knowledge repository; providing academic services to society; and offering training services to enhance the human resource potential of other agencies. Furthermore, the institute is charged with nurturing art and culture, traditions, local wisdom, the environment, sports, desirable Thai values, and organizational culture, alongside other duties as assigned by the President."
